Tajumulco Volcano

Tajumulco Volcano, located in the department of San Marcos, is the highest point in Guatemala and all of Central America and forms part of the Sierra Madre mountain range. Classified as an inactive volcano, its ascent is a high-altitude mountaineering experience set within a vast and dramatic natural landscape. From its upper slopes, under favorable weather conditions, hikers can enjoy expansive views of the western highlands, the Pacific Ocean, and regions of southern Mexico, making Tajumulco a defining natural and geographical landmark of the country. 💡 Curiosities Tajumulco reaches an elevation of approximately 4,220 meters above sea level. On clear days, extensive stretches of the Pacific coastline and parts of Mexican territory can be seen from the higher sections of the volcano.
