Amid the tropical vegetation of the Motagua Valley, Quiriguá preserves some of the tallest and most intricately carved stelae in the Maya world. These monuments recount stories of power, astronomy, and royal lineages, all carved with remarkable mastery characteristic of Classic Maya art. Walking through the site allows visitors to experience these monumental pieces within the natural landscape of the region. 💡 Curiosities Quiriguá was declared a UNESCO World Heritage Site in 1981 and is home to Stela E, one of the tallest in the Maya world, standing over 10 meters high and weighing nearly 65 tons.
